Celebrating Our Seniors

It’s almost performance time for our Senior Intensive Show, The Mikado! When our students are seniors, we like to highlight them. To do that, we instituted our Senior Intensive productions. Our seniors who have been involved in leadership at CSDC choose the show we will perform in the winter. All CSDC seniors are invited to participate in the show. If there are parts still available after our seniors have been cast, we offer them to younger students who have also been active in leadership roles or have been very involved at CSDC. We call the show an Intensive, because instead of rehearsing only one day a week for most of a semester and then performing, we rehearse 4-5 days a week for about 6 weeks. This is one of the aspects of our pre-professional training - to rehearse in a way that is similar to what professionals would do. Because these students have had a lot of experience already, we are able to dig deeper into characterization and truthfulness in acting than we do when the bulk of our cast are newer actors. It’s become a highlight of the year for us, although it’s always bittersweet, knowing that I’m reaching the end of my time with some of my students. Join us for the show on Feb. 16, 17, 22-24 and see what an incredible job these students do. You may buy tickets online at www.crystalseadrama.org/tickets.
